info

Banoffee is the sweet solo sound of Martha Brown, a Melbourne songwriter with a keen ear for vintage synthesizers and modern R-n-B. Banoffee’s music recalls the Balearic sounds of the 1980s and the futurist space of UK bass music, merging with her own arresting take on RnB – a musical place where Detroit inspired synths end up in love songs that sound distinctly modern.

With the release of her second EP – Do I Make You Nervous? – Banoffee has announced her largest tour to date. As well as shows in Melbourne and Sydney, she’ll be playing her first headline shows in Adelaide, Brisbane and Auckland – and will be joined by a number of her musical favourites along the way.

The EP’s first single “With Her” – only two weeks old – has already received a raft of praise, with i-D, Pigeons & Planes and DIY all throwing their support behind the release. Do I Make You Nervous? sees continued growth on her previous work, with production from Oscar Key Sung, Martin King and GXNXVS giving the record an engaging, diverse sound.

After impressing a broad range of demographics at Splendour in the Grass, Golden Plains and New York’s CMJ music marathon (just two among many festival appearances), her signature sound has become something her audiences crave. This has certainly been recognised, given that Banoffee was nominated in both Best Song and Best Female Artist categories at The Age Music Victoria Awards 2014.
