Creating multi sensory, high octane, audio and visual landscapes, innovative producer Sam Poggioli is Sampology.

In 2014, Sampology took a break from his renowned AV shows to hone in on his writing and music production to release his second EP, and his first release of a body of music since his 2012 debut album.

Since then, Sampology has spent much of his time in his studio in Brisbane, working with a number of hometown artists that represent a new wave in soulful, out of the box, fresh electronic music. Beyond Brisbane, Sampology has also been working on his new music in international locations including Berlin, Mumbai and LA.

The result is ‘Natural Selections’ – a 6 track EP due for release in August 2016 on Brisbane based imprint Soul Has No Tempo. Like Sampology, the EP is one that can’t be boxed into a one-type genre. It’s fresh. It’s soulful. It tells a story. It’s electronic, yet organic. It’s exciting.

‘Natural Selections’ features a number of collaborations, many of them with Brisbane artists including ‘Different Star’ featuring Laneous; Tiana Khasi who features on lead single ‘Thicker That Water’ and New Zealand native/ex Brisbane/now Berlin based Noah Slee on ‘Be There’. Beyond his Brisbane music family, ‘Natural Selections’ also sees Sampology collaborating with true family – his father Ken Poggioli plays upright bass on ‘Different Star Ft. Laneous’; his Aunt, Helen Poggioli plays viola on ‘Thicker Than Water Ft. Tiani Khasi; and finally, his mother Sue Poggioli has created the artwork not only for the EP but also for the visuals which feature in his new live show. If home is where the heart is, ‘Natural Selections’ has it a-plenty.

Love for Sampology’s unique production is starting to spread. Global tastemakers are already taking note. (Gilles Peterson got his hands on an early, un-mastered demo and swiftly gave it an airing on his Worldwide BBC6 radio show back in March) If you haven’t yet come across Sampology’s innumerable talents then you soon will. Look into the future of sound and tune-in to Sampology.
