About Niche Productions
Niche Productions is a boutique touring and booking agency based in Sydney, Australia run by James Browning.
From 2006 - 2009 James was an integral part of music programming for the internationally renowned Sydney Festival, working on the overall programming as well as exclusively booking for two of the festivals favourite stages – the Beck’s Bar and the Famous Speigeltent.
Since forming Niche Productions in 2004, James has developed a unique roster of artists and has established Niche as one of the country’s leading specialty music agencies focusing on everything from Soul to Beats, Funk and Jazz to Electronica and Hip Hop.
In 2008 Niche Productions was named Touring Company & Promoter of the year by Sydney street press 3D world.
Niche has co-ordinated tours and events within Australia and internationally and has a reputation for providing high standards of production and performances.
In early 2009 Niche Productions along with Waterfall Entertainment created Days Like This! Festival – a music festival with a diverse lineup not ever seen in Sydney before. One the bill were Public Enemy, Fat Freddys Drop, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Atmosphere, Carl Craig, Mr Scruff and Giles Peterson to name but a few.
The festival was a runaway success with a strong turnout and incredible feedback from the artists including DJ Vadim, who said itwas probably the best festival he has ever played at.
2010 saw the festival's return as well as the start of busy for Niche Productions. They are currently working on A Tribe Called Quest's first ever Australian tour.
