Aloe Blacc and his band The Grand Scheme are currently winning the world over with their performances of his current album ‘Good Things.’ Released on seminal label Stones Throw (home to label-mates Madlib and Dam-Funk) and recorded with NYC’s El Michels Affair, ‘Good Things’ is spearheaded by the breakthrough single ‘I Need A Dollar’; that catchy-as-all-hell title music to HBO/Showtime’s hit show ‘How To Make It In America’.
Focusing on the incredible feeling you get when you quit all of the negatives in life, ‘Good Things’ is an extremely diverse effort that also takes in a cover of Velvet Underground’s ‘Femme Fatale.’ After solo performances at the beginning of 2010, it’s time for this peerless singer to return to Australia and headline such an impressive bill with his full US band.
As a DJ and radio presenter, Benji B defies comparison. His regular program has recently moved from BBC sister station 1-Xtra to Radio 1, taking over fabled presenter Mary-Anne Hobbs’ vacant spot. Whether behind the mic or in the clubs, Benji B has that rare ability to hop across genres and join the dots between Soul, Afro, Hip Hop, Dubstep, Deep House, Broken Beat and any other beat in the future spectrum.
