Niche Productions is thrilled to present two of the stars of the cutting edge electronic scenes that are sweeping the world right now. In the case of the UK’s Roska, some call it Funky, some call it House, it has been called Garage before but we just call it good music. For USA’s Lorn, a mixture of dark, cinematic and fierce yet beautiful Dubstep influences are conjured up to create something entirely original.
Storming across 2010 with a string of remixes for people like Katy B, Modeselektor, Zed Bias, Fourtet, Martyn and Redlight feat Ms Dynamite, Roska has been the go-to-guy for deep percussive house music with tonnes of bounce and a nod to Dubstep here and there. It was some of his earliest productions that were so identifiable with this emerging sound and when branded with his now infamous ‘Roska Roska Roska’ ID tagline, he was able to solidify his place amongst the best and stand out from the pack.
With releases on his own Kicks and Snares label, he broke through and earned the attention of Rinse FM, where he received a residency from 2009 on the then online-only radio station, who would subsequently go on to release his debut self titled album in April on their impressive fledgling label. The album garnered praise with everyone from press types (Mixmag), label honchos (Ramp Recordings) and DJs on the popular end of the spectrum like Sinden.
Most recently, he teamed up with producer Untold for the genre-smashing Myth EP for the Numbers label and has been setting DJs playlists alight, with confirmation coming in the form of licensing requests from the likes of DJ Gregory for his recent mix for In The House/Defected as well as being a mainstay on the playlists of radio jocks like Gilles Peterson and Benji B.
For the first time Roska brings his trademark sound to Australia and will be one of the first bonafide stars of the post-Dubstep UK House scene to introduce this exciting new sound to eager clubbers on a range of heavy soundsystems across the country. Appealing as much to wobbly-bass heads as he will to fans of the lighter, funkier sounds of house, this is an evening not to be missed.
If you’re unfamiliar with the sound, check a number of Roska’s productions on this brand new DJ mix by Niche Productions’ in-house web nerd DJ Huwston.

Joining Roska on this night will be Brainfeeder recording artist Lorn, whose cinematic mix of Dubstep and Beats sees him comfortably rubbing shoulders with label mates like Flying Lotus and Daedelus. His debut album “Nothing Else” was released in June 2010 on the label through their UK partnership with Ninja Tune and received rapturous applause from Pitchfork and XLR8R.
The only Brainfeeder artist to neither come from or ever to have lived in LA, Lorn has already developed an international following for his music. Epic, melancholic and brutal, it’s a record which the listener has to be prepared the immerse themselves in.
