Beat Dimensions Vol 2 (Rush Hour)
The Beat Dimensions series is set to make a return, with two Eps comprising of songs from Volume 2 out now and the CD not far off. I’ll admit that that it’s at first not as charming as Volume One, however, that was many years ago and a lot of us were hearing the wobbly beats for the first time then. Now with the likes of Hudmo and Flylo impressing your mother and your sister and your sister’s friends, it’s up to compilers Jay Scarlett and Cinnaman to turn things up a notch. Coming at it like a bull at a gate is local producer Dizz1, whose joint on EP2 Konotakosuke Yaro puts him in a good position to be the next guy you’ll be checking for. The track starts off with some nice synth pads and bubbly stabs and then drops in to this brooding melody that wouldn’t sound out of place as a remix for NIN’s Closer. There’s room for the next gen to shine on here, with appearances from Dorian Concept, Fulgeance, Samiyam, Nosaj Thing and more to be found on the currently available two EPS. I’ll report back when the full length drops.
