Lee Fields & The Expresions - My World (Truth & Soul)

Lee Fields has one of those great stories (great for the record label, not him), of a career that’s stalled on several occasions, with the man once tipped as the ‘next big thing’, only to be really heard about now in the wake of similar artists like Sharon Jones. His band The Expressions back him with that real Truth and Soul subtlety, and leave all the wailing up to him. The album My World is some of the most soulful stuff you’ll hear all year. It’s mighty powerful and impressive, boasting stirring ballads and classic interludes, with a cover of My World IS Empty Without You in the mix, too. Cop this one without fail.
